A bank or credit card's magnetic strip or chip rests on a PVC base. Rigid or semi-rigid PVC is valued for this type of application, due to its sturdiness and flexibility, its compatibility with other thermoplastics and low tendency to form fish-eyes.
Bank and credit cards are manufactured by calendering, or by the die-flat extrusion of sheets. |
