The glacier of Gurschen in the region of Andermatt will now be covered on a surface of 3000 m² by a foamed PVC foil to protect the glacier against high summer temperatures. With this measurement the permanent melting process of the glacier, which is shortened by 5 meters a year, will be stopped and the ski area will be preserved. The protection will cost 20€ per square meter.
