May 27, 2009 Plastics in Medical Devices Conference.
During the "Plastics in Medical Devices" Conference (Brussels - 21/22 April 2009) Mr Ole Grøndahl Hansen, head of PVC Information Council in Denmark presented a paper about "Perspectives on PVC in Medical Devices". The wide use of PVC in the health care market and some typical applications are presented as well as some more controversial topics such as : incineration, phthalates and Eco-Labels. Worth reading it !

April 22, 2009 Sewerage & Drainage Pipe 2009 conference.
The conference is cancelled and deferred in October 2009. Don't miss the forthcoming Sewerage & Drainage Pipe 2009 conference organised by AMI. It will bring together in Cologne (15-17 June 2009) top experts from the civil engineering and pipe industries to discuss the latest developments in new build and rehabilitation of pipe systems. Among them, Mr. Joël Fumire, Technical Marketing Manager for Pipes & Fittings of SolVin, will present a paper about "PVC twin wall pipes: a new concept!"

April 16, 2009 AAMA Releases Study on Recycling Vinyl Windows & Doors.
From the Vinyl Institute : Avoiding the Landfill: The Recycling of Vinyl Windows and Doors. Following in the footsteps of the industry’s best practice of recycling nearly 100% of the industrial waste created in the production of vinyl (PVC – polyvinyl chloride) windows and doors, the North American industry has entered into a new phase in its commitment to environmental sustainability through recycling, via the post-consumer recycling efforts of the Vinyl Material Council.

October 08, 2008 Moscow PVC Pipes Conference.
Russia is a fast growing market for Vinyls. SolVin and RusVinyl join their efforts to promote the development of PVC Pipes & Fittings in Russia and CIS. The first conference about «PVC PIPES IN RUSSIA AND THE CIS: THE SECOND BIRTH», has taken place in the Lomonosov State Academy of Moscow on October 2nd, gathering more thant 100 participants. Among the speakers : Bruno van der Wielen Business Manager Suspension PVC and Joël Fumire Pipes & Fittings Expert, both from SolVin, but also Dmitriy Kulikhin Director of the Pipe Certification Center and Serguey Sivaev Head of the Municipal Facilities Department of the Institute of Urban Economics.

September 30, 2008 Plastic Pipes XIV Conference.
Let's have a look to the presentation done by Mr Joël Fumire, Pipes & Fittings expert of SolVin, under the banner of PVC4PIPES, at PP XIV, the international conference for Plastic Pipes in Budapest (H), that took place end of Septembre 2008, and gather hundreds of attendees. You will discover an indepth scientific analysis of the chemical resistance of PVC pipes against disinfectants, versus some traditional material.

December 20, 2007 Brasilian SolVin PVC produced from salt and sugar.
Solvay Indupa has recently approved a further USD 135 million investment program to expand and increase the competitiveness of its vinyls production plant of Santo Andre, Brazil. This second stage of expansion comprises the creation of an integrated plant to produce ethylene with ethanol originating from sugar cane. Ethylene is one of the two main feedstocks needed to manufacture polyvinyl chloride (PVC) - together with chlorine, which is produced through a salt-based electrolysis process.

March 07, 2007 The Cables 2007 Conference.
Dr Rick Whiteley, an international toxicologist expert, has presented a paper under the name of SolVin at the CABLES 2007conference (organised by AMI) held in Cologne, on March, 6th, 2007. The title of the paper is :"Should Toxicity of Fire effluents be measured ? and, if so, How ?". The aim of this paper is to have a neutral expert's eye looking at the toxicity of plastics materials during a fire, and try to analyse if some real differences are observed between them and wether it is relevant to keep this criteria. May be other criterias like electrical insulation, mecanical propeties, fire resistance, etc... are much more relevant ?
