Dr Rick Whiteley, an international toxicologist expert, has presented a paper under the name of SolVin at the CABLES 2007conference (organised by AMI) held in Cologne, on March, 6th, 2007. The title of the paper is :"Should Toxicity of Fire effluents be measured ? and, if so, How ?".
The aim of this paper is to have a neutral expert's eye looking at the toxicity of plastics materials during a fire, and try to analyse if some real differences are observed between them and wether it is relevant to keep this criteria. May be other criterias like electrical insulation, mecanical propeties, fire resistance, etc... are much more relevant ?
