Mrs Claudine Bloyaert, Technical Market Development of PVC Profiles for SolVin has presented on March, 15th 2007 an interesting overview about Wood Plastics Composites (WPC), at the PLASTPROGRES'07 conference held in Belgrade.
After some comments about the growing market of WPC, she focused on how to make a "good" Wood - PVC composite, from birth to end-of-life and recycling. This is followed by an interesting indepth analysis about the appropriate amount of organic fibers needed to make a simple object : a bank ; and also the comparison with other wood-filled polymers is of great value. This real case helps to highlight the very high rigidity, the good weathering resistance and the low water uptake for a typical longterm application, where PVC proves to be the best candidate.
Nice reading and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any idea of application development based on PVC.
