On 15 April, the Fundación Entorno announced the awards corresponding to the Spanish section of the European Environmental Prizes awarded by the General Directorate for Environmental Management of the European Commission.  

The SolVin factory in Martorell was the first recipient of the Environmental Management for Sustainable Development award for its work relating to the minimization of environmental impact, supplier audits, employee ideas and suggestions programme, and lowering the industrial accident rate. 

His Highness the Prince of Asturias personally delivered the award in a ceremony held in the Ceremonial Hall of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Participants in the ceremony included the acting Secretary of State for Science and Technology, Pedro Morenés; the Chairman of the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones, Ignacio Ruiz-Jarabo; the Chairman of the Jury and Director of the Fundación Entorno, Cristina García-Orcoyen and the Chairman of the Fundación Entorno, Javier Salas.
