PVC SHEETING FOR THE BARCELONA 2003 WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS POOL
The swimming trials at the recent World Swimming Championships, which took place in Barcelona between the 12th and 27th of July, were held in a swimming pool built especially for the occasion in the city’s Palau Sant Jordi.
The 50 x 25 m swimming pool with a capacity of 2500 m3 was waterproofed using PVC sheeting in a spectacular blue colour supplied by Spanish manufacturers. The entire structure was set up in a record time of three weeks.
Fourteen world records were beaten during these championships. It was the biggest sporting event held in the city since the 1992 Olympic Games and the spectator figures exceeded all forecasts. The swimming pool has been praised not only by the swimmers but also by the organisers, the authorities and the general public who attended the various events.
