Located in the Nakornpatom Province, at 50 Km west of Bangkok, in the central part of Thailand, a PVC house has been erected by the People Co., Ltd Company, a producer of rigid PVC and PVC wood composites.
With the exception of the steel and concrete structure of pillars and floor, this two story building (6 meters high, 30 x 15 meters on the ground) is completely made of PVC and PVC composites.
Rigid PVC is used for the doors and window frames. A PVC wood composite replaces standard wood applications: cornice, cove, inner partition, cladding, façade, wood sidings, wall skirt, parquet floor, ceiling material and the inside furniture.
The PVC house has been made for office and residential purposes, but is also used as a show case of the multiple uses of PVC in a building.
It is perfectly representative of the traditional Thai style, where most of the houses are made of wood. Combining the appearance of wood with the qualities of PVC is particularly well-advised under this climate conditions. For example, the cornice will be valuable and beautiful forever as it is durable, termite and water resistant, light weight, and easy to install by carpenters. It can be already delivered in the right color, not requiring any painting.
Moreover, its heat resistance to the outside temperature is 30% higher than concrete wall.
