It is in Ferrara, in the North of Italy that TEXYLOOP, the very innovative process to recycle composite tarpaulins (PVC-Polyester), will be embedded.
TEXYLOOP SAS, a company 100 % owned by FERRARI (F) created in order to organise the collect of old tarpaulins and to develop the industrialisation of the process TEXYLOOP, is increasing the capital of VINYLOOP FERRARA SpA (I) by 20 %.
Following the study of several projects, FERRARI has decided to put in operation its recycling technology based on the VINYLOOP process, by taking advantage of all synergies with the existing plant of VINYLOOP FERRARA SpA.
In a first step, the 400 t of tarpaulins, already collected by TEXYLOOP SAS, among which 80 % are post consumers, will be treated with the current materials being recycled by VINYLOOP FERRARA SpA.
In 2006, a further investment of a specific reactor to the TEXYLOOP’s process will aim to an optimum recycling of vinyl tarpaulins.
VINYLOOP FERRARA SpA, mainly owned by SolVin Italia and officially sponsored by Vinyl 2010, has regenerated around 3000 t of end life products in 2004. This figure should double in 2005. TEXYLOOP, among different projects of improvement under scrutiny, will enlarge the product portfolio of recycled material on the Ferrara’s site.
SolVin combines the competences of Solvay (75 %) and BASF (25 %) in the European Vinyls sector. The synergies achieved in know-how and organization, the complementarities of product ranges as well as upstream integration have built up SolVin as a leader on the PVC and PVDC markets. The joint venture has operations in France, Germany, Spain and the Benelux countries and a total annual production capacity of 1.3 million tons of PVC, with around 2000 employees. As a strongly customer-centered company covering the entire vinyl chain, SolVin is constantly seeking to improve the quality and value added of its products and services. www.solvinpvc.com
