On May 30th2006, SolVin was granted the 2005 Supplier of the Year Award from Benecke-Kaliko AG. SolVin had previously received this Award on 2000 and 2001.
Benecke-Kaliko is using High-end technologies to manufacture a wide range of colors and textures, either for technical surfaces or "genuine-leather"; owing to supported expanded vinyls, it is present in millions of cars (good abrasion properties).
SolVin was set up in 1999, when Solvay and Basf joined their competences in the vinyls sector. Solvay owns 75% and Basf the remaining 25%. The synergies achieved in know-how and organization, the complementarity of product ranges as well as upstream integration have built up SolVin as a leader on the PVC and PVDC markets. The joint-venture has operations in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Benelux countries and a total capacity of some 1.3 million tonnes of PVC.
SolVin generated consolidated sales over €1 billion in 2005, with 2,000 employees.
