The geometry
The hexagonal shape of the previous raft implied the existence of a centre, which considerably simplified certain technical aspects, particularly for assembling different inflatable pontoons arranged around the centre.
But this principle of design did not distribute the load well on the support (the canopy) and in particular the load due to the weight of the structure itself (750 kg).
This poor weight distribution was amplified by the fact that the people using it have a tendency to pass one another or take up a position in the centre. Technical factors such as the usual position of the communications with the ground (rope and radio), added to psychological factors (attraction of the central position which seems safer) make this zone one of the most disrupted parts of the Canopy Raft and the most harmful for the support.
The colour
The pale colour limits the absorption of heat by the inflatable pontoons
